Soulciety & the Philippines

Soulciety has been working with schools in the Philippines since 2009, and our founder Ron Cariño has been doing similar work there since 2005. Over the years, we have come to learn that one of the major educational hinderances and inequalities, especially in the provinces, is the lack of computer access and education. Soulciety is based in the Bay Area, home to Silicon Valley and where companies eWaste millions of computers every year. Why not save these computers from the landfills and give them to kids in need? With the support of our sponsors, we are able to coordinate the gathering of these used computers, refurbish them, and then donate these computers to schools in the Philippines. Students gain access to computers and learn computer education, while our teachers gain the tools to develop their distance learning curriculum.

Why We Do This Work

As Filipino-Americans, we often try to find ways to stay connected to our culture and ways to give back. Our kids in the Philippines have a need and we have the resources here in the Bay Area to improve their education. Therefore, we can help. It just takes a matter of working together to make it happen.

Champion-A-Project

Over the years, Soulciety has become a resource hub that connects schools in the Philippines with potential sponsors and resources from the Bay Area. And now, you too, have an opportunity to Champion-A-Project in the Philippines!


Are you a Fil-Am that would like to give back to schools in your hometown? Are you a college or community-based organization that is looking for a worthwhile charity project to sponsor? 


With Soulciety’s Champion-A-Project (CAP), you can champion a computer donation project for schools in a province in the Philippines. Your sponsorship of computers will provide teachers and students with access to technology, the opportunity to learn basic computer education, and the equipment needed for their distance learning education.

Recent News | Batangas DepEd Partner Award

For the past 10 years, Soulciety has been working with schools throughout the province of Batangas. For our contribution and commitment in improving the education of our Batangueño children, the DepEd in Batangas awarded Soulciety with their Partnership Award in 2020.

Featured Project | Taal, Batangas

Over the years, we have deepened our partnership with one of Batangas' historic towns - Taal. In 2019, Soulciety donated 80 computers to 8 schools. Moving forward, our goal is to donate another 90 computers to the remaining 9 public schools and to assess the impact of the technological access and computer education in the town of Taal.
